Jorge Alberto
Jorge Alberto González was born in Cuba in 1949 and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1965. He began his study of art at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, later working for the school in the graphic arts department. In 1975, he completed a second degree, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on graphic design. His talent for design led to a 15-year career with Baltimore’s WJZ-TV in the graphic arts department, where he worked in makeup, set design, graphic arts, and more.
In 1990, Alberto left the television station to attend classes at the Schuler School of Fine Arts. He graduated in 1994 and soon moved to Italy to enroll in the Florence Academy of Art, where he studied with John Michael Angel.
Alberto returned to the United States in 1995 and now lives and works in Baltimore as a full-time realist fine art painter. His work continues to earn acclaim, including Best Trompe l’Oeil and Best of Show at the International Guild of Realism’s 2015 annual exhibition.
