Trish Coonrod
Born in Danvers, Massachusetts, in 1966, Trish Coonrod knew from a young age that she would become an artist. She majored in painting at Washington University in St. Louis and later continued her studies at the New York Academy of Art, where she graduated with honors in 1995. Shortly after, she began working in the studio of Jeff Koons, where she served as a lead painter until 2003.
In recent years, Coonrod has focused primarily on still life painting, often using fruit as her central subject. Occasionally, she includes other objects to introduce additional shapes and colors into the composition. She is drawn to fruit for its vibrant, natural form—each piece unique, with an implied gesture and personality. Its impermanence also plays a crucial role: as fruit inevitably decomposes, each painting becomes a quiet race against time, a lasting record of something fleeting.
Coonrod now resides in Ithaca, New York, with her husband and two children. She continues to explore the timeless beauty of still life, using her paintings to capture the fleeting nature of everyday objects with clarity and grace.
