Paula Rubino
Paula Rubino is a painter who creates contemporary imagery using classical techniques and materials. Her spare compositions are designed to evoke calm, with color placed to heighten mood and layered brushwork building a surface that is both complex and fresh.
Rubino trained at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy and later studied with Odd Nerdrum in Norway. In addition to her artistic background, she holds degrees in economics and law from the University of Florida.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in Florida, Rubino has lived and worked in Mexico, Italy, and Finland. She currently resides in Stuart, Florida, with her husband, fellow Principle Gallery artist Jussi Pöyhönen, and maintains a studio in Laitila, Finland.
