Megan Aline
Megan Aline grew up in Thomaston, Maine. As a child, she took classes at the Farnsworth Art Museum, where she rubbed elbows with American realists Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, as well as photographers such as John Paul Caponigro. With family lineage including the classical realist William Davis, Aline was raised with a broad liberal arts education. She went on to complement her humanistic study of literature and art with practical business administration skills while attending the Universidad de los Andes in Venezuela and Regent’s College in London, ultimately earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire.
Aline’s work explores the theme of serene motion on land and water. Her technique of creating movement with brushstrokes in tranquil nature scenes evokes a strong sense of childhood nostalgia. Painting also serves as a source of personal identification for Aline, reflecting the nuances of her childhood spent exploring the woods of Maine. Her works reveal that precision of detail and attention to form are as important as the graceful balance and harmonious flow of the overall composition. Through this interplay, Aline’s art invites quiet reflection on the natural world and the passage of time.
