Geoffrey Johnson
Born in 1965 in Greensboro, North Carolina, Geoffrey Johnson graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he received numerous awards for his artistic excellence. He draws much of his inspiration from travel and first-hand observation, experiences that have shaped his distinctive approach to painting.
In the studio, Johnson typically works on several paintings at once to maintain a fresh perspective and avoid becoming confined to a single style. He is particularly drawn to high-contrast compositions and dramatic lighting, often transforming familiar spaces into atmospheric works that evoke a sense of memory and place.
Inspired by a box of vintage photographs, Johnson has created a body of interiors and architectural scenes in which he experiments with both muted, monochromatic palettes and brighter colors. Through his distinctive vision, Johnson invites viewers to experience familiar subjects in new and unexpected ways. His paintings are held in private and corporate collections, including those of Coca-Cola, Turner Broadcasting, BellSouth, and Wells Fargo.
