Aiden Kringen
Aiden Kringen was born in Los Angeles, California, and lived variously in the American West and Mexico—in places like Sebastopol, Jalisco, Portland, and Flagstaff—before settling in the hill and vineyard-dotted environs of Sonoma County. Growing up in these diverse settings, each with its own distinctive natural beauty, he developed his artistic sensibilities from a young age. He has always possessed a keen eye for detail, rooted in a talent for closely observing the human experience.
He learned the fundamentals of composition and the subtleties of positive and negative space from his mother, who worked as both an artist and graphic designer, gaining an understanding of how these elements interact and relate to one another. He also learned traditional techniques, both by hand and through mechanical processes, embracing a Bauhaus-like appreciation for precision, integrity, and hard work. Kringen eventually began painting in the style for which he is now best known: a technique that merges drawing and painting, line and brushstroke, with fragmented shapes forming the foundation of his imagery. Notably, this approach is more than a stylistic conceit—it reflects his way of perceiving reality.
